Dubai:

Vsun, an OEM manufacturer based in Shenzhen, China, has launched its own brand of smartphones and tablets in the UAE.

The company is vying the youth segment in the Middle East region with six models.

“Our phones are sold to big local brands in South-East Asia, South America, India, Russia and Africa, and we manufacture tens of millions of devices every year,” said Haitham Ebrahim, CEO of Vsun.

He said the market is not crowded as the mobility sector is growing very fast. So there is still room for new players.

“The Chinese manufacturers are eating into the market share of the top brands. Consumers are looking for value for money and we are targeting that sector,” he said.

The company’s main focus is in Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and slowly spread wings to other markets in the Middle East.

Ebrahim said the smartphones are priced between Dh449 and Dh999.

The flagship five-inch DNA Series which comes with handcrafted leather and laser-cut finish, octa-core 1.7GHz MediaTek processor coupled with 2GB RAM, 16GB inbuilt storage capacity and unique gesture control software features is priced at Dh999.

“We manufacture everything, including the accessories and the chargers, apart from the processor, at our China factory. Testing of the products is done in-house,” he said.

“Vsun has chalked out an ambitious growth plan for the region and we are using UAE as the stepping stone for the Middle East and Africa region,” he said.
