Dubai: Careem has expanded its groceries delivery service to include Labubu collectible dolls, providing customers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi a new way to acquire these in-demand figures.

Labubu dolls, produced by the collectible toy brand PopMart, have recently surged in popularity across the UAE and internationally. This rise in demand has led to long waiting times at physical stores and a secondary market where some figures are resold at prices significantly above retail.

Careem’s service allows customers to order three surprise Labubu dolls for Dh305 each, inclusive of VAT, with delivery times advertised as under 20 minutes. Stock is limited and distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Orders can be placed through the Careem app under the ‘Groceries’ section.

Craze for collectibles

The current surge in interest reflects a broader trend in collectible toys and blind box products, which appeal to both casual buyers and collectors. Blind box collectibles—where the specific figure inside the packaging is unknown until opened—create a sense of anticipation and rarity, contributing to their popularity.

In the UAE, Labubu dolls can also be purchased through several other channels. The official PopMart website serves customers in Dubai, while authorized retailers such as The Little Things, with outlets in Bluewaters, Dubai Mall, and Mall of the Emirates, sell figures starting at Dh79.

Mad Kicks, located in Box Park, Dubai, offers dolls priced around Dh300 each or sets of six blind boxes for Dh1,250. Online marketplaces like Amazon list Labubu figures as well, though buyers should be mindful of counterfeit products in the secondary market.

Collectors and casual buyers alike are advised to consider the various purchasing options and pricing when acquiring Labubu dolls, given the current high demand and varying availability.

To order via Careem, customers should download or update to the latest version of the app and select ‘Groceries’ from the home screen.
