Muscat: Iskan Oman’s Zahrat Al Khareef, Dhofar project was launched on Sunday night at the Al Bustan Palace hotel.
The gated community project, offering freehold ownership for Omani and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens, is the first of its kind and the largest property development to date in Salalah, in southern Oman.
Construction commenced in April this year, with the first phase of the development scheduled for completion by the end of 2011.
The Dhofar project has been designed to harmoniously blend with the environment, complementing the surroundings that attract thousands of visitors each year to witness the subtropical lushness in the summer season.

"Zahrat Al Khareef, Dhofar is a freehold project primarily catering to the interest of Omani and GCC citizens. It will bring a new phase to Salalah, one that will see the emergence of smart living and smart growth," said Iskan Group chairman Adil Mohammed Al Bader.
The Zahrat Al Khareef, Dhofar project promises to promote wholesome community living offering the convenience of proximity to amenities and services as well as incorporating recreation and leisure spaces with a family friendly focus.
The real estate project also promises to further enhance the profile of the Dhofar region; blending modern living with the natural environment that reflects the very essence of Salalah.
Lush green trees, gentle breezes from the mountains and white sandy beaches caress the fringes of Zahrat Al Khareef, which is located in the Al Wadi area in Salalah. The project covers an area of approximately 29,000 square metres.
Ten-storey buildings with a gross built up area of 130,000 square metres will offer 576 living units in a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom and duplex apartments.
Dr Rashid Ali Al Balushi, MD, Iskan Oman said; "The first phase of the plan includes 218 unique apartments and amenities like the club house and swimming pool."
The club house equipped with recreational facilities will serve as a fitness and community centre, bringing together the occupants to socialise and relax in world class luxury. Additional facilities such as a swimming pool with professionally designed landscaping, further compliment the recreational offerings of the project.
