A multi-billion dollar Desert Snow Village will be a new project in Ras Al Khaimah targeting up to 15 million visitors annually, according to the project developer.

"We have been planning this project for the last 10 years, and this project is totally new in all aspects and will have a new system in everything, from marketing to the transport network. It is a project that has been planned from A to Z," Halim Hani, the project developer, told Gulf News.

Construction of the Desert Snow Village is set to be carried out in three stages, with the completion of the entire project estimated to take between eight and 10 years.

The project was conceived and designed to provide various tourism and related activities under one roof and generate revenues through tourism and commercial activities.

The village, which is expected to be an entirely self-sufficient town, will accommodate 350,000 permanent residents in addition to 150,000 daily visitors, who may ultimately reach 10 million to 15 million per year.

"Everyone who buys an apartment in the project will have a full medical plan and the children will also receive free education facilities," Hani said.

The Desert Snow Village also aims to be self-sufficient, offering residents all the public services and amenities of a regular city, as well as the services of private companies that come to set up within the complex.

The project will provide various types of sports, leisure, entertainment and cultural activities, with its main attraction being a simulation of the North and South Pole atmospheres with ice related sports.

The project will also include other activities such as water sports, a monorail, a cable car ride, a roller coaster and electronic games.

An underwater hotel as well as 24 themed hotels, such as a sport hotel, film production hotel, a kids hotel and a women's hotel are part of the many features of the Desert Snow Village, which will be covered by a dome structure, with a 20-room ice hotel as well as apartment blocks that have access to the monorail system.
