Dubai Land Department already allows title deed registrations to be done on WhatsApp
Dubai: Now, tenants in Dubai can have their ‘Ejari’ rental records updated with Dubai Land Department via WhatsApp. The move comes as key government departments move to bring more of such transactions onto digital platforms.
What the new service does is allow users to complete their Ejari registration entirely online – thus ‘eliminating the need for in-person visits’, according to Injaz, the real estate registration trustee that has signed up with Dubai Land Department.
There are about 10 service trustees that users can interact with through WhatsApp to complete their Ejari documentation or updates.
The Ejari updates through WhatsApp will be done through the ‘Aqari’ platform, which was launched in August 2024. At the time, the WhatsApp platform was meant to update title deed data amendments, property valuations, map issuance, ownership registration and personal and company info.
Now, with the top up, ‘Clients can now complete essential steps such as Ejari registration online – no matter where they are in the world,” said Majid Almazrouei, General Manager of Injaz Real Estate Registration Trustee.
The Dubai rental market is starting to see more 'moderate' rental increases happen in parts of the city. This was the year when the real-time digital Rental Index went live, whereby landlords had to follow a star rating system on their buildings to justify any rent hike.
Why Ejari is a big deal for tenants and landlords
* Signing up for the Ejari ensures a record of the tenancy contract.
* The certificate is required by the tenant to activate DEWA services.
* Facilities management companies require an Ejari certificate.
* The Ejari certificate protects tenant's rights in case of conflicts with the landlord.
