ETA gets part of Burj Dubai deal

Dubai: Property developer Emaar has awarded a Dh1 billion contract for Burj Dubai's mechanical and electrical work to a joint venture led by ETA, a UAE-based diversified business group.

ETA said it will execute the project at what will be the world's tallest tower with Hitachi Plant Engineering and Construction Company of Japan and Voltas Ltd. of India.

"The challenges ahead of the joint venture will be to meet the highest quality standards required for such skyscrapers and to meet the scheduled completion date of December 2008," ETA said in a statement yesterday.

The Burj Dubai tower, located off Shaikh Zayed Road at the heart of the Burj Dubai mixed-use development, is rising at a rate of one floor per week.

The new district will feature one of the world's first Armani hotels, luxury residential apartments, boutique offices and a host of top class restaurants and leisure options.

The Burj Dubai development will also host The Dubai Mall, the largest mall in the world when completed, Burj Dubai Business Hub, commercial offices and a variety of living options varying from the traditional Arabic inspired Old Town to the modern lofts.

Work on the world's tallest tower is continuing at a brisk pace and is scheduled to be complete by 2008.
