Dubai: UAE-based creatives now have until June 26, 2025, to submit their original video projections for a chance to see their work featured on the Burj Khalifa’s iconic LED façade.

Real estate developer Emaar announced the deadline extension on Monday, following a surge in interest for its Projection Design Competition, originally set to close on May 26.

The competition invites artists, animators, and motion designers from across the UAE to submit a three-minute video or animation that captures Dubai’s creative and innovative spirit. The winning submission will not only be displayed on the world’s tallest building, but also come with a cash prize of Dh100,000.

“This is more than just a contest,” said an Emaar spokesperson. “It’s a platform for homegrown talent to make a mark on a global icon and inspire millions who see it.”

Canvas like no other

This isn’t the first time the Burj Khalifa has featured digital art, but public competitions like this are rare. The tower’s massive LED exterior has previously displayed international campaigns, national celebrations, and special tributes. Now, Emaar is offering individual artists a chance to join that visual legacy — with the potential for global exposure.

The technical bar is high: submissions must meet specific projection-mapping standards to ensure compatibility with the tower’s façade. Artists are encouraged to review full specifications at www.burjkhalifa.ae/open-call before submitting their concept and file to opencall@emaar.ae.

Emaar said the decision to extend the deadline was aimed at giving more artists — both emerging and established — a fair opportunity to participate. The competition remains open to all UAE residents, and entries will be judged based on creativity, originality, and how well the design captures the evolving identity of Dubai.
