Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Municipality (ADM) has announced that the infrastructure works of a residential city for workers in Al Mafraq will be completed by next month.

The Municipality is building the infrastructure worth Dh651 million and a private company is developing the residential buildings for the workers, a municipality spokesperson said.

Rental

Once construction of the accommodation for the workers is completed, private companies can rent the space for their workers, the spokesperson said.

Information about the size and capacity of workers' accommodation was not available from the municipality.

"Our responsibility is only building the infrastructure for the city which is located between Al Ain-Abu Dhabi highway and Abu Dhabi-Al Ain truck road," the spokesperson said.

It is 35 kilometres away from Abu Dhabi city and five kilometres from Al Mafraq Bridge. The project includes construction of roads, lighting and other essential facilities which started in October last year, said the spokesperson.

A 45-kilometre road as part of a project building road networks in the city, was opened for traffic in August 2009.

Parking spaces

Construction of 1,962 parking spaces and infrastructure facilities such as 1,352 lamp posts, will be completed by next month.

Water, sewerage and telephone facilities have already been taken care of.

The project is part of the ADM's strategy to find comprehensive solutions to urban development problems.
