Dubai: Nothing fans have reason to rejoice!

London-based technology company Nothing has revealed that the latest iteration of the Phone series - (3a), (3a) Pro - will be released on March 4. Nothing – one of the fastest-growing brands in the smartphone industry – released the (2a) early last year. The company has confirmed that its next product launch will be the Nothing Phone (3a), instead of the expected Phone (3), according to its first quarterly update video for 2025.

Co-founder Akis Evangelidis revealed that the firm’s next product launch will be for the Phone (3a) without providing any information on the specs or peeks at the handset’s design.

However, GSMArena has reported that the phone will have three rear cameras, citing e-mail leaks. According to another rumour from yesterday, it has a 6.8-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC at the helm, and a triple rear camera setup with a first for Nothing: a 50 MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. It will be joined by a 50 MP main camera and an 8 MP ultrawide.

The tech publication has reported that there will be a 32 MP selfie snapper on the front.

(a) suffix means affordable

The (a) suffix indicates a more affordable model with slightly reduced specs. Evangelidis said in the video, “For the (a) Series, we have a different set of users. When people buy a smartphone, some are looking for the greatest specs; they want the latest innovations and processors. Yet some other users are equally excited about tech but happy with a great user experience—that’s who the (a) Series is for. We’re focused on the core user needs in terms of camera, screen, processor, and design.”

Earlier this month, Bloomberg reported that the company is seeking to raise at least $100 million in funding to expand its operations, citing people with knowledge on the matter. Nothing previously raised about $100 million in 2023.

In 2024, Nothing doubled its annual revenue to more than $500 million and recently crossed $1 billion in lifetime sales, the people said. It has also told investors that its margins have improved from a year ago and that it has sold 7 million units across all product categories to date.

Nothing has gained fans with the unique design of its smartphones, which feature a transparent back. The startup is run by Carl Pei, one of the creators of OnePlus, a popular China-based phone maker. Nothing sells phones ranging from $250 to $700, as well as several different earbuds and a smartwatch.
