Dubai: UAE-based camel milk chocolate producer Al Nassma yesterday opened its first store in Japan. The new outlet is based in the Mitsukoshi department store in the business district of Nihombashi in the centre of Tokyo.

"This is a clear signal that UAE companies are able to gain an international foothold even in such complex markets like Japan," Martin van Almsick, General Manager of Al Nassma Chocolate, told Gulf News.

"We are proud that we were able to reach this important stage target in the course of our international expansion drive," he added.

Van Almsick also said Al Nassma has been listed by other major Japanese department stores Isetan and Hanshen and has been launched in respective stores in Osaka, Kyoto and Sapporo. The opening of the Tokyo store was attended by the chairman of Mitsukoshi and the UAE ambassador to Japan, van Almsick said.

Al Nassma's chocolates are distributed in Japan by Home Needs. According to Mohammad Gaffar Othman, its chairman and CEO, Al Nassma currently is the only UAE product with a Japanese label on it.
