Value-for-money Appzilla bundle offers practicality but also has the power to surprise Rating:
Dubai: In a sea of 200,000 applications awaiting download in iTunes App Store, it can be hard for a software developer to stand apart.
After starting up last year as an unknown, Fossil Software has turned heads around the globe with its iTunes top-selling application, Appzilla, a one-stop-shopping experience for both iPhone and iTouch users that offers 90 applications in one.
Sold for 99 US cents (Dh3.64), few applications out there offer such value for the money with Fossil Software grey matter types bundling 90 applications together in one download, and once again, for less than one American dollar.
So why is everyone going gaga over Appzilla?
After downloading my own 2.4.4 version of the app from Apple's App Store, I can see why it's a hit — there are so many weird, fun and practical applications inside the Appzilla application that I still have not had the time to fully explore each application.
Fossil has some great life-saving applications here including Dictionary, Currency converter, Flashlight as well as Plumb Bob, Level and a handful of other self-explanatory utility gizmos such as Metronome, Pitch Pipe, Pet Age and Loan Calculator.
But it's the unusual applications that I'm sure give Appzilla the lead in the all-in-one app race.
I love Sleep Aid, an extremely simple app with nine buttons that offer soothing sounds from running water and raindrops to crickets and a rolling thunderstorm.
I really liked the Bug strange pulsing light from my iPhone screen and, according to Fossil Software, "uses ultrasonic sound frequency to keep flying insects away. Make sure your sound is maxed".
In a nutshell, I can't remember having this much fun for under $1.
