Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company's (Takreer) 400,000 barrel per day (bpd) Ruwais refinery has resumed full operation after the recent shutdown of its units for routine maintenance, a senior company official said on Monday.

"All the units of the refinery are up and running to their full capacity after their planned maintenance got over," Arun Gopal, senior pipeline coordinator at the Abu Dhabi Refinery Division, told Gulf News on the sidelines of an energy conference here.

Ruwais is located 240 kilometres west of Abu Dhabi. The Ruwais refinery processes 120,000 bpd of crude oil and 280,000 bpd of condensate.

The Ruwais refinery products comply with domestic and international specifications. The oil products include liquefied petroleum gas, special unleaded gasoline (95 octane), premium unleaded gasoline (98 octane), unleaded gasoline, naphtha grades, jet-A1 and kerosene grades, gas oil grades, fuel oil grades 180 and 380 centistoke (cst) and granulated sulphur.

In addition, Takreer operates the 85,000 bpd Abu Dhabi refinery located on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi.

Takreer was established in June 1999 to assume the responsibility of refining operations of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc). To meet growing demand, Takreer has planned a new 417,000 bpd refinery at Ruwais, with its completion seen in 2013.
