Abu Dhabi: A two-day energy conference titled “Uncoventional Fossil Fuels: The Next Hydrocarbon Revolution” begins October 29 in the capital, organisers, Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) announced at a news conference yesterday.

“World renowned experts are going to converge in Abu Dhabi where they will engage in open discussions about new sources of energy, particularly shale gas and renewable energy. We are all aware energy needs of countries deeply influence their policies,” said Jasem M. Al Hosani, ECSSR’s Deputy Director General for sector of Scientific Research Affairs.

“Masdar is the main sponsor for this conference. Other sponsors include Adnoc and Adco,” he added.

The keynote address at the energy conference is to be delivered by the UAE Minister of Energy Mohammad Faraj Al Mazroui.

“It is widely known that research and forward-looking studies on energy are of utmost importance for all countries and populations, and not just today, but for many decades to come. It is an issue that will receive even more attention while mankind remains dependent on energy,” said ECSSR, adding it will be their 19th annual energy conference.

“In keeping with the aim of ECSSR to support sustainable development — not only in the UAE but also elsewhere in the GCC, the Arab World and beyond — this event seeks to explore the latest developments and technologies in the field of unconventional fossil fuels,” it added.
