Dubai: Fifteen more Emirates Petroleum Product Company (Eppco) petrol service stations will operate on a self-service basis from midnight to 6am from Thursday.
The self-service system will be implemented at Eppco stations located along Shaikh Zayed Road, Nadd Al Hamar, Lahbab Road in Jebel Ali Industrial Area, Dubai-Al Ain Road, Port Rashid Road, Al Mankhool Road, Al Ghusais, Hatta-Dubai Road, Al Aweer Road, Mirdif and Jumeirah Beach Road.
The new system was introduced in these stations due to their relatively low footfall after midnight. The move is part of the company’s strategy to introduce advanced and automated refuelling facilities across its network. Earlier this year, 10 Eppco sites adopted the same scheme.
“The response to our fuel self-service initiative introduced in July at 10 of our service stations has been encouraging. With our service staff offering support, where needed, motorists are more confident of using the system on their own,” an Eppco spokesperson said.
Customers can now fill their required fuel themselves at the service stations and pay inside the ZOOM store. Advanced, fully secure and user-friendly fuel dispenser systems have also been introduced at the sites.
The spokesperson clarified that the introduction of the self-service system will not result in any staff redundancies since affected staff members will be deployed in other service stations within the network.
