Mediclinic Middle East, the leading private hospital group in the UAE, and InterSystems, a creative data technology provider dedicated to helping customers solve the most critical scalability, interoperability, and speed problems, recently celebrated the successful completion of the implementation of the TrakCare unified health information system across the whole hospital network consisting of 7 hospitals and 24 clinics in the UAE.

The teams of both Mediclinic Middle East and InterSystems gathered at the Jumeirah Creekside Hotel on the 30th of June to celebrate this important milestone.

Mediclinic Middle East (MCME), one of the largest private healthcare groups in the UAE, completed the deployment of TrakCare within a record time despite the challenges faced during the pandemic.

Mediclinic’s mission is to deliver excellent patient care and measurable quality clinical outcomes. The group’s leadership believes in utilizing technology to achieve these goals and transform care delivery.

“Implementation of the InterSystems Electronic Health Record and billing platform has been a major achievement for Mediclinic - it provides an advanced level of interoperability whilst delivering a robust digital foundation for the organization. Mediclinic was the first private hospital group to be fully integrated with the Nabidh Health Information Exchange (HIE) and is also fully integrated with the Malaffi HIE.

Delivering this project through the pandemic whilst meeting our regulatory commitments was a challenge for the team overall, however it has provided demonstrable achievements and great satisfaction – we expect that the intellectual property developed during this process will help us as we embark on other transformation initiatives in the near future,” said Augustine Amusu, Chief Information Officer, Mediclinic Middle East.

TrakCare, with its unified clinical and revenue cycle management capabilities, offers a holistic view of each patient’s clinical, administrative, and financial information at any given time to the group’s care providers. The system supports the hospital’s medical staff in their decision-making while creating more opportunities to offer patients an enhanced experience and seamless care journey as they spend less time waiting and avoid unnecessary tests.

“Today we celebrate the successful completion of the implementation of InterSystems TrakCare as the EMR across the entire Mediclinic Middle East network.

Along the journey we met new and complex needs that did not even exist at the time of signing, such as connecting to the new Dubai and Abu Dhabi health information exchanges. We have both invested in an excellent partnership that has and will enable us to continuously adapt to the needs of the evolving UAE Healthcare landscape,” said Ali Abi Raad, Country Manager for the Middle East and India at InterSystems.”

InterSystems TrakCare electronic medical record system is trusted by leading healthcare providers across 27 countries and comes preconfigured to meet local market requirements, reducing implementation complexity and risk.
