LuLu Hypermarkets has launched its first-ever 'Best of Spain' festival, a celebration of Spanish food fiesta, in the UAE. This festival offers the best of Spanish products, culinary delights, and a delightful immersion into Spanish culture.

Spain is the world’s largest producer of olive oil and one of the most productive centres of agribusiness, with the prized Spanish saffron topping the list. In the promotion, LuLu shoppers can explore the world of Spanish taste and quality with over 2000 products from Spain lining the shopping aisles. These include premium biscuits, chocolates, cakes, crisps, olive oil, olives, bakery products, world cuisine products such as tortillas and pasta, sauces, fruits and vegetables, and non-food products.

The festival was inaugurated at the LuLu Hypermarket in the World Trade Centre, Abu Dhabi, by the Spanish Ambassador to the UAE, H.E. Íñigo de Palacio España, who received a warm welcome from LuLu Group dignitaries. The promotion is supported by the Spanish Embassy and facilitated by the Spanish Business Council, with the presence of its Vice President, Ramon Merino. Zayed Al Tamimi, the General Manager of the World Trade Centre, also graced the occasion.

The inauguration was enlivened by attractive replicas of traditional Spanish monuments and large creative displays of Spanish products and decorations reflecting Spanish themes. There were lively flamenco dances and Spanish guitar music, giving visitors an insight into the colourful and unique Spanish culture. There were food stalls selling delicious Spanish street food and free tasting stalls where you could try different Spanish dishes.

The Ambassador of Spain to the United Arab Emirates, Íñigo de Palacio España, said, The “Best of Spain” festival is a celebration of Spanish food and gastronomy taking place at every LuLu Hypermarket in the UAE. With more than 2,000 Spanish product references on their shelves, LuLu’s dedication to bringing the flavors and traditions of Spain to the UAE is truly commendable. Their decision to establish their logistics center for sourcing in Spain underscores the deep-rooted relationship between LuLu and our country. Spain has a great ally in LuLu, which is playing a key role in strengthening the trade and cultural relations between both nations.

Spanish Business Council Vice President Ramón Merino said, "This festival is a remarkable opportunity to elevate Spain's visibility as a source of high-quality food, and we have the duty to flag it by creating such remarkable partnerships as this one with LuLu Group. From the Spanish Business Council, we've observed a growing interest in our culture and way of life. This interest is not only reflected in the increasing size of our board of members year by year, but also in the fact that many of our members are actively involved in the hospitality industry, food trading, and supplies. This number is on the rise, underscoring the synergies that have emerged not only with other Mediterranean cultures but also with those that are geographically more distant."

Saifee Rupawala, CEO of LuLu Group, said “To bring the vibrant flavors and rich culture of Spain to the heart of the UAE is a momentous occasion for us. Our significant presence in Spain, where we operate a vital sourcing office, emphasizes our continuous dedication to delivering the finest Spanish offerings to our valued shoppers.”

The festival will be held at all LuLu Hypermarkets in the UAE until November 5, 2023.
