Dubai: Dubai’s ports have retained their status of being among the Top 5 maritime destinations of the world for a third straight year.

The ISCD Index is based on several indicators and criteria such as the ability to attract maritime businesses, the extent of utilizing innovation and creativity in maritime centers around the world, and their general impact and participation in driving the growth of the global shipping sector.

“Dubai Maritime City Authority will continue to enhance Dubai’s competitiveness on the global shipping landscape,” said Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman, in a statement.

Dubai is ahead of the likes of Rotterdam, Hamburg, Athens, New York, New Jersey and Tokyo in the rankings, which was put together by Baltic Exchange, and Xinhua, a London-based international news agency affiliated with the China Economic Information Service (CEIS).

“Outperforming other leading global maritime capitals such as Rotterdam, Tokyo and Hamburg, Dubai’s maritime industry has also become the first in the Arab world to accomplish this achievement,” said Bin Sulayem.
