Al Zahra hospital in Dubai inaugurated its JCI accredited Heart Attack Center and upgraded its advanced Interventional Suite.
The opening ceremony took place in the presence of senior health officials including Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority and other government officials, Sheikh Majid bin Faisal Al Qassimi, Managing Director of Al Zahra hospital and representatives of Siemens Healthineers.
With the recent upgrade, the hospital marks a milestone, being the first in the region to feature two of Siemens Healthineers latest breakthrough technologies in one place: The ARTIS ICONO Biplane cardiac angiography equipment for image-guided minimally invasive therapy and the Corindus CorPath GRX, a second-generation robotic-assisted technology for percutaneous coronary, peripheral, and neurovascular interventions.
Al Ketbi highlighted that the private healthcare sector is witnessing rapid development and that the DHA is keen to support and foster the development of the health sector with an aim to provide the highest quality of accessible patient-centered care to community members.
Al Ketbi highlighted the importance of integrating latest technological advancements to further improve patient outcomes and he emphasized on the role of human cadres and technology in shaping the future of healthcare.
“We are incredibly proud to be the only hospital in the region to have both Robotic system and Artis Icano advanced systems in one suite,” said Sheikh Majid bin Faisal Al Qassimi, Managing Director, Al Zahra hospital.
“Our goal in all areas is to always provide the highest level of precision medicine to benefit patients, better clinical outcomes and save lives.”
Dr. Rajeev Lochan, Head, Department of Cardiology at Al Zahra Hospital, said the “Heart Attack Center”, in Siemen’s cardiac catheterization suit, has two labs and the largest team of four full time interventional cardiologists.
Andrew Forder, Head of Business, Advanced Therapies MESA, said, “We are delighted to partner with Al Zahra Hospital in making new advances in precision medicine and medical interventions, helping to provide the best possible healthcare services to patients and the wider community.”
Niyaz Mohamed, Country Head at Siemens Healthineers Middle East, Southern &Eastern Africa, mentioned that they very were proud and happy to continue the great relationship over the last decade with Al Zahra Hospital by promoting the latest technology in Cath Lab which is the first system in the region.
The Siemens Healthineers ARTIS Icono Biplane is a sophisticated imaging system with significantly enhanced 2-D and 3-D imaging, offering faster, more precise cone beam CT images, and enabling the physician to visualize collateral vessels and support sounder treatment decisions before performing life-saving procedures for stroke patients.
Secondly, the Corindus CorPath GRX, provides precise robotic-assisted interventions. Seated in a radiation-protected cockpit, physicians use joystick controls to robotically advance catheters, balloons, and stents millimeter by millimeter to clear blockages and restore blood flow with a future possibility of remote guided procedures an advancement in telemedicine.
