Dubai: Applications are now open for an award where students who own businesses can compete.

The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards are created by the Entrepreneurs Organization, a network of 14,000 plus business owners in 61 countries. This provides an opportunity to "studentpreneurs" who require mentorship, recognition and connections to take their businesses to the next level of success.

To enroll, the students must own and operate a business while attending college or university. They can submit their credentials until December.

Nominees will go head to head with their peers on a local and regional level to qualify for the finals and compete for a prize of $25,000 in cash and one-year free membership to the EO Accelerator Program, which itself is worth more than $25,000 in annual benefits and training.

Last year, Shabandri Bilal from the UAE was shortlisted as one of the Top 7 2020 Global Finalist by the EO UAE Chapter. Bilal created Arcab along with co-founder Kevin, to solve a personal problem they had with long commute times on public transport and expensive ride-hailing.

Nima Faqihi, EO UAE President for 2020/2021 says, “We are elated by the passion and energy embodied by our studentpreneurs. We hope that this unique program inspires more students to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
