Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) is expanding its ‘Green Corner’ initiative to LuLu Hypermarket outlets in the capital. The programme, which will run at LuLu hypermarkets in Al Wahda and Musrif malls, supports Abu Dhabi’s goal of reducing its water and electricity consumption by 20 per cent by 2030.

“Promoting energy efficient products and encouraging customers to use them falls under our agenda to drive sustainability across the emirate,” said Saeed Mohammad Al-Suwaidi, managing director of ADDC.

Under the initiative, appliances are provided with labels and detailed information about their annual energy consumption rate, and the expected level of savings in their utility consumption.

It also extends to designing marketing material and facades and shelves of green corner stands, as well as leaflets and educational brochures to attract customers.

“We believe in this great sustainability initiative that will preserve the environment for the benefit of future generations,” said M.A. Yusuf Ali, chairman and managing director, LuLu Group.

ADDC, which is a subsidiary of Taqa, oversee water and electricity flow to more than 600,000 service points through its distribution network.
