Dubai: UAE citizens and residents with travel plans can make use of the Jaywan debit card scheme to make payments abroad.

The Al Etihad Payments, the UAE Central Bank subsidiary and operator of the Jaywan platform, has confirmed co-badging alliances with the global payments processing networks Visa, Discover, Mastercard and UnionPay.

Being a debit card, the Jaywan is directly linked to the UAE resident’s bank account. UAE banks are in the process of issuing these debit cards to their account holders, with the co-badged cards to go out from H2-2025.

The Jaywan debit and prepaid co-badged cards will allow for ‘everyday transactions, salary disbursements, and secure cross-border payments’.

“Jaywan co-badge cards will provide international acceptance, and cardholders can use their cards abroad, ensuring that travel and cross-border payments remain seamless,” said a statement.

“These partnerships enhance Jaywan's usability by extending its reach to international merchants, ATMs, and online payment platforms, allowing users to transact effortlessly both in the UAE and beyond.”
