Dubai:

A new private jet terminal will open at Al Maktoum International in November, a senior executive from Dubai South (formerly Dubai World Central), said on Monday.

The terminal will be used by Dubai-based private jet operators ExecuJet, XJet, Jetex and Jet Aviation, Tahnoun Saif, Vice-President-Aviation at Dubai South told Gulf News at an aviation industry event in Dubai.

It will be the first permanent terminal for the four operators and the second private jet terminal to open at the airport. The official announcement and opening will be at the Dubai Airshow in November, Saif said.

Dubai South is also in talks with aircraft maintenance to establish facilities in the aerospace district surrounding Al Maktoum International. In February, it signed up Lufthansa Technik Middle East and expects at least one more firm to commit to the site at the Dubai Airshow, Saif said.

In August 2015, the area surrounding Al Maktoum International was rebranded from Dubai World Central (DWC) to Dubai South. Saif said the rebranding has been undertaken to improve awareness of the airport and area, which is located in the emirates south near the Abu Dhabi border. He also said it was done to avoid confusion with other acronyms in the emirate such as Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) and Dubai World Cup (DWC).
