Dubai: Middle East carriers recorded a 9.8 per cent increase in annual passenger growth in November, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said Tuesday.

Capacity among the region's carriers rose by 11.5 per cent while the average number of filled seats dropped by 1 percentage point to 69.4 per cent.

IATA said in an emailed statement that strengthening non-oil business conditions in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia “ should help sustain solid expansion in air passenger demand for local carriers.”

Globally, passenger demand grew 5.9 per cent compared to a year ago, however, below October’s 7.1 per cent growth.
