Etihad Airways to operate UAE’s first aeromedical centre

Dubai: Etihad Airways said on Wednesday it has received accreditation from the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to operate the country’s first Aeromedical Centre.

Etihad Airways’ medical centre will now be able to “issue initial medical certificates to pilots, air traffic controllers and other professional aviation licence holders,” according to an emailed statement from the airline.

Reissuance of certificates will also be delegated to the airline’s medical centre. The center is regulated by the Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD) and the GCAA.
