Emirates, dnata recognised for excellence in airfreight
Dubai: Emirates SkyCargo and dnata have clinched top accolades at the World Air Cargo Awards 2025. The awards ceremony, held last week during the Air Cargo Europe event in Messe München, celebrated outstanding achievements across the airfreight industry.
Emirates SkyCargo, the freight division of Emirates, was crowned the Airline of the Year (Middle East and Africa). This prestigious award recognizes the airline's commitment to innovation, service excellence, and significant contributions to the air cargo industry within the region.
Adding to the UAE's success, dnata, one of the world's largest air services providers, took home the Regional Air Cargo General Sales & Service Agent of the Year award. dnata's extensive operations span over 30 countries across six continents, offering ground handling, cargo, travel catering, and retail services to more than 300 airline customers.
This award highlights dnata's robust network and excellence in managing air cargo sales and services across various regions, underpinning Dubai's position as a critical logistics hub.
Every week in the last financial year, Emirates SkyCargo moved an impressive 6,900 tonnes of goods from Europe. This massive operation helped boost international trade, from medicines from Denmark and Belgium to fresh salmon from Norway and even whisky from Glasgow. They also transported valuable items from Geneva, automotive parts from Frankfurt, and general cargo from various European cities.
Forty-three per cent of this cargo was flown to the UAE and the broader Middle East. Another 32 per cent continued their journey to the Far East and Australasia.
Last week, Emirates SkyCargo launched a new dedicated vertical called ‘Aerospace and Engineering.’ The move was spearheaded by introducing “Aircraft Engines,” a fit-for-purpose solution for transporting critical and high-value aviation parts.
Badr Abbas, Divisional Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, said, “Moving highly specialised items is always an exciting challenge, and, having significantly invested in building world-class infrastructure across our network, it’s a challenge that we are ready to meet.”
