Dubai: Emirates has cancelled multiple flights to and from London Heathrow Airport on March 21 following a major power outage caused by a fire at a nearby electrical substation.

The Dubai-based airline announced that the following services will not operate due to Heathrow’s temporary closure: EK001/002, EK029/030, and EK031/032. Passengers booked or connecting onto these flights will not be accepted for travel. The airline said it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as it develops.

“Customers are advised to check our website for updates before their travel and ensure their contact details are up to date via Manage Your Booking to receive the latest notifications,” Emirates stated.

Affected passengers have the option to rebook travel to other UK airports or reschedule for a later date. Those who booked through travel agents should contact their agents, while customers who booked directly with Emirates can reach out for assistance. The airline apologised for any inconvenience caused.

London Heathrow Airport confirmed it would remain closed throughout Friday after a large fire at an electrical substation in west London triggered a widespread power outage, disrupting flights worldwide.

The London Fire Brigade said around 70 firefighters were battling the blaze, which severely impacted operations at Europe’s busiest and the world’s fifth-busiest airport.

The disruption at Heathrow is expected to have a ripple effect on global travel, with airlines and passengers facing delays and cancellations. Travellers are advised to check with their airlines for the latest updates.
