Dubai Health Authority (DHA) highlighted its latest medical services, smart systems and technologies at the Dubai International Government Achievements Exhibition last week.

His Excellency Humaid Al Qutami, Chairman of the Board and Director General of DHA, said the exhibition provides an important opportunity for all government departments and authorities to showcase their latest initiatives. He said the exhibition is a form of healthy competition that drives government authorities and departments to roll out quality services to the public.

Happier and healthier society

In line with DHA’s goal to have a happier and healthier society, Al Qutami said DHA is keen to continue launching state-of-the-art technologies, smart systems and apps, and international-standard services.

The innovative technologies, smart apps and projects highlighted at the exhibition include:

Vocera — a new system adopted by Latifa Hospital to improve staff response times and create a quieter environment for patients using secure text messaging and hands-free voice communication at the 344-bed hospital.

Dubai Health Experience (DXH) — The DXH project was launched with the aim of revitalising medical tourism in the city and making Dubai a favourite global destination. The project aims to attract 500,000 tourists by 2020 to advance Dubai’s status in the international map of medical tourism, hence benefiting from its promising investment opportunities.

Salama — The electronic record system launched by DHA aims to provide patients access to their medical record through a portal across DHA health facilities. So far, 1.4 million DHA patient medical records and 112 million transactions have been transferred to the Salama system.

Salem: The medical fitness and occupational screening system has been integrated to all medical fitness centres in Dubai to reduce customers’ waiting time, minimise human intervention to almost zero and make blood test and x-ray results available electronically.

Salem AI: It’s the first radiology AI algorithm in the UAE adopted at DHA medical fitness centres to improve chest X-ray screening workflows.

DHA also featured an innovation stand where innovations by DHA staff were on display. Most notable was the Safadi Stitch, which is a new technology that makes the mitral heart valve repair surgery faster, easier and with greater precision, invented by Dr Faouzi Safadi, Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Dubai Hospital.
