Dubai: Three tourists have been accused of beating a taxi driver and leaving him with a permanently disfigured nose following a heated argument, heard a court on Thursday.

The Pakistani driver was said to have been sitting in his car outside a hotel in Al Muraqabat when he spotted three Saudi tourists assaulting a resident who was sitting in another car in front of the hotel in March.

As the driver stepped out of his car and tried to restrain the three Saudis from beating the resident, according to records, a heated argument followed with the trio.

The tourists, aged 25, 28 and 30, assaulted the driver and fractured his nose.

The three were taken into custody once the police were called to the location.

Prosecutors accused the trio of beating the Pakistani and causing him a five per cent permanent disfigurement to his nose.

The three suspects failed to show up before the Dubai Court of First Instance where they were scheduled to enter their pleas on Thursday.

Presiding Judge Habib Awad will sentence the Saudi suspects in absentia on October 18.

The Pakistani driver claimed to prosecutors that the trio beat him brutally and injured his nose when he tried to stop the fight between them and the resident.
