DUBAI: Kids in the UAE have been urged to participate in a healthy snack competition, with the winner standing a chance to star in special foodie television show.

The competition, which will be held as part of the 2018 ASEAN Festival at the Rise Dubai Creek Harbour on February 9, is being organised Zenofer Fathima, producer and presenter of Food Addict, a television show on Zee TV Middle East that focuses on Malaysian cuisine. Fathima said, “The Food Addict Junior Challenge is aimed at encouraging children to think and eat healthy. It also gives them an oppportunity to invent a new taste. Kids love to play, so why not play with food for a change?”

On the spot

She said the contest is open to kids aged four to 13. the participating children are required to come up with a healthy snack on the spot from a given set of ingredients. The contest, which will be at the main stage of the event, will run for 30 minutes.

Among the judges will be the Malaysian ambassador to the UAE and Fathima herself.

The winner will receive attractive gifts in addition to the chance to appear in one of the Food Addict’s special episodes.

The two-day multi-cultural event, organised by five member countries of the Asean Business Councils Alliance (ABCA), will feature Asean-themed street foods, arts and crafts, kids’ zone, fashion shows, live music, karaoke, film and more.
