A wedding in Kannur, a district in the southern Indian state of Kerala, narrowly avoided postponement after a location mix-up led to tense moments on the big day, local media reported.

The groom, a resident of Thiruvananthapuram, was scheduled to wed a Kannur native at the Keezhur Mahavishnu Temple in Iritty, with the ‘muhurtham’ (auspicious time of the day) set for 10:30am. However, as the time approached and there was no sign of the groom, confusion and anxiety gripped the bride’s family.

A quick phone call revealed the problem: the groom had mistakenly arrived at the similarly named Kizhur Shiva Temple in Payyoli, Vadakara — over 60km away from the actual venue.

The error was traced to a relative of the bride, who had inadvertently shared the wrong Google Map location with the groom's party.

The groom and his relatives, who had reached Thalassery the previous evening, had set off in the morning using the faulty map link.

Fortunately, temple authorities at Iritty reassured the families that the wedding could proceed despite missing the ‘muhurtham’, easing the tension.

The groom, unfamiliar with the temple chosen by the bride's family — which was just 2km from her home — had previously visited her residence but had not seen the venue. This wedding marked the second marriage for both bride and groom.

Despite the initial chaos, the groom arrived three hours late, and the couple finally tied the knot in a heartwarming ceremony — making for a memorable story that family and friends will likely recount for years.
