The man was risking his life in a desperate attempt to travel without a ticket
Dubai: In a shocking incident from Madhya Pradesh, India, a man was discovered clinging beneath a coach of the Danapur Express after an astonishing 290-kilometre journey. According to Indian media reports, the journey, which stretched from Itarsi to Jabalpur, saw the man perilously positioned between the train’s wheels, risking his life in a desperate attempt to travel without a ticket.
The discovery was made during a rolling test at Jabalpur railway station by the Carriage and Wagon department staff. While conducting a routine under-gear inspection, they were alarmed to find the man lying under the S4 coach of the train. A video capturing his extraction from beneath the train has since gone viral on social media, drawing widespread attention.
Upon questioning, the man admitted to boarding the train at Itarsi without a ticket. With no money to pay for his journey, he resorted to the life-threatening decision to cling to the train’s undercarriage. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) was immediately summoned, and the man was taken into custody. The video footage suggests that he appeared intoxicated during the incident, raising further questions about how he managed to secure himself in such a hazardous position.
Authorities have registered a case and are conducting an investigation to uncover more details about the incident. According to media reports, the episode has sparked concerns over railway safety and the extent of desperation that drives individuals to such extreme measures. Meanwhile, officials are exploring measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
