Ramallah: The Israeli Military decided to keep a soldier in the military but remove him from active duty after he killed a Palestinian during a peaceful protest in the village of Qusrah, near Nablus.

Essam Kamal Odeh was shot and killed on September 23 by the soldier who fired on a group of protesters during celebrations following Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's submission of the application for full state membership at the UN.

Odeh left behind seven children and his family is pushing for the officer to be tried in court for his crime.
