Israel army says striking 'dozens' of Iran missile launchers

Israel's military said Saturday it was striking dozens of missile launchers in Iran, after announcing it had targeted air defences with a wave of strikes in the Tehran area overnight.

The Israeli air force "continues striking dozens of surface-to-surface missile launchers in Iran", the military said in a statement.

Talks with US now 'meaningless'

Iran said further nuclear talks with the US are now "meaningless" after Israel's strikes, Tehran Times reported, citing Esmaeil Baghaei, a spokesman for the foreign ministry.

"The other side has done something that makes dialog meaningless," Baghaei was reported as saying.

The US and Iran were scheduled to resume negotiations in Oman on Sunday. While Baghaei's comments cast doubt on whether they would still go ahead, he stopped short of saying they were canceled. US President Donald Trump warned Iran on social media to make a deal "before it is too late."

Israel army says struck Iran 'defence arrays' in Tehran area

The Israeli military said Saturday its air force targeted Iran's air defences with a wave of strikes in the Tehran area overnight.

"Overnight, the IAF struck dozens of targets, including surface-to-air missile infrastructure, as part of the effort to damage the Iranian regime's aerial defence capabilities in the area of Tehran," the military said in a statement.

"For the first time since the beginning of the war, over 1,500 kms from Israeli territory, the IAF (Israeli military) struck defence arrays in the area of Tehran."

Two killed by rocket fire on Israel residential area

Israeli emergency services said rocket fire on a residential area killed two people in the coastal plain on Saturday after Iran launched barrages of missiles.

"Among the casualties: a woman around 60 was rescued without signs of life, a man around 45 was evacuated in critical condition... and was later pronounced dead," the Magen David Adom said in a statement, adding that 19 others were wounded.

Iran downs Israeli reconnaissance drones

Iranian forces shot down Israeli drones on a reconnaissance mission over the northwest on Saturday, state media reported, as exchanges of fire between the two sides continued.

"Islamic fighters (Iranian forces) in the Salmas border region successfully shot down Israeli drones that had violated the country's airspace," state television said, adding that the "drones had entered Iranian airspace on espionage and reconnaissance missions."

Iran launches fresh wave of attacks on Israel

Iran launched retaliatory missile strikes on Israel into Saturday morning, killing at least three people and wounding dozens, after a series of blistering Israeli attacks on the heart of Iran’s nuclear program and its armed forces.

Air raid sirens sound in Israel as Iran fires more missiles

The Israeli military briefly called on residents Saturday to take shelter after detecting fresh missiles launched from Iran towards Israel.

"A short while ago, sirens sounded in several areas across Israel following the identification of missiles from Iran toward the State of Israel," the military said on Telegram at 4:40 am (0140 GMT), adding that the air force was "operating to intercept and strike where necessary to eliminate the threat".

About 10 minutes later, the military said: "it is now permitted to leave protected spaces and to remain near them" following a "situational assessment".

Iran launches new wave of missile attacks on Israel: state TV

Iran launched a new wave of missile attacks on Israel early Saturday after numerous sites had been struck across the Islamic republic, state media said.

"A new round of Iranian missile attacks on the Zionist regime begins from Tehran and Kermanshah", a city in western Iran, state TV reported.

Israel military says it struck Iranian airforce bases

Israel's military said in a statement Friday that it had struck two air bases in Iran's west, dismantling one of them.

"Earlier today (Friday), the (Israeli military) struck the military bases belonging to the Iranian Airforce 'Hamadan' and 'Tabriz' throughout western Iran, the 'Tabriz' base was dismantled as a result of the strike," the military said.

Key aboveground section of Natanz enrichment plant 'destroyed'

Iran has reported that a key aboveground component of its uranium enrichment facility in Natanz was destroyed, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency said Friday.

"At Natanz, the aboveground part of the Pilot Fuel Enrichment Plant, where Iran was producing uranium enriched up to 60 percent U-235, has been destroyed," IAEA nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi told the UN Security Council.

Trump, Netanyahu spoke on Friday: White House

US President Donald Trump spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday, the White House said, after Israel struck Iran's military leadership and nuclear facilities and Tehran retaliated.

The call was confirmed by a White House official to AFP on condition of anonymity. Trump had earlier said that he had been made aware of the Israeli strikes before they happened on Thursday.

Two older adults wounded east of Tel Aviv

The Israeli military said an Iranian missile landed in Ramat Gan, a city about halfway between the coast and Ben Gurion International Airport.

Muslim Council of Elders condemns Israel's attack

The Muslim Council of Elders, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al Azhar strongly condemned Israel's military action on the Islamic Republic of Iran. 

The Council warned of the attack's grave implications on the security and stability of the region and the entire world.

Additionally, the Council urged the international community to take urgent action to de-escalate tensions, prevent the conflict from expanding, and support diplomatic efforts aimed at fostering international peace and security.

Netanyahu tells Iranians 'more is on the way' after Israeli strikes

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Friday in a message to Iranians that Israel would press its campaign after launching waves of strikes at military and nuclear sites.

"In the past 24 hours, we have taken out top military commanders, senior nuclear scientists, the Islamic regime's most significant enrichment facility and a large portion of its ballistic missile arsenal," Netanyahu said in a video statement, adding: "More is on the way. The regime does not know what hit them, or what will hit them. It has never been weaker."

Netanyahu calls on Iranians to unite against 'evil and oppressive regime'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on Iranians to unite against what he described as an "evil and oppressive regime", telling them Israel was engaged in "one of the greatest military operations in history".

"The time has come for the Iranian people to unite around its flag and its historic legacy, by standing up for your freedom from the evil and oppressive regime," Netanyahu said in a video statement after Israel struck over 200 military and nuclear sites in the Islamic republic.

"We are in the midst of one of the greatest military operations in history, Operation Rising Lion", he added.

Starmer, Trump stress need for dialogue

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and US President Donald Trump discussed the conflict between Israel and Iran by phone Friday, agreeing on "the importance of diplomacy and dialogue", Starmer's office said.

"The Prime Minister reiterated the UK's grave concerns about Iran's nuclear programmes," a spokeswoman said, adding that "the leaders looked forward to speaking again at the G7 in Canada next week

Iran downs two Israeli fighter jets

Iranian state media said the country's forces downed two Israeli fighter jets, during a massive Israeli air raid.

"At least two Israeli fighter jets were shot down in Iranian skies," the official IRNA news agency reported, without elaborating.

7 injured in central Israel after Iran missile attack

Seven people have been “lightly and moderately injured” following an Iranian strike that hit on the border of Tel Aviv and the city of Ramat Gan in Israel, according to Eli Bin, the head of Magen David Adom, Israel’s emergency services.

Fire reported near Israel’s Defence Ministry: Report

Israeli media have published several unconfirmed reports following Iran’s retaliatory strikes.

Channel 13 reported a fire near the Defence Ministry headquarters in Tel Aviv, while Israel Hayom said rockets landed in seven locations across central Israel.

'Dozens of Iranian ballistic missiles' en route to Israel

An Israeli military official said Iran launched dozens of ballistic missiles at Israel, as sirens sounded and AFP journalists reported loud blasts heard in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

"Dozens of Iranian ballistic missiles are en route to Israel. The people of Israel have been instructed to remain in bomb shelters until further notice," the official said in a statement delivered to journalists on condition of anonymity.

Explosions, huge plumes of smoke seen over Tel Aviv

In live footage from Tel Aviv, loud explosions were heard just moments ago, followed by massive plumes of smoke billowing over the city’s skyline. The smoke towers above the surrounding skyscrapers, creating a dramatic and alarming scene.

It remains unclear whether the smoke is the result of missile strikes or air defence interceptions.

Sirens in Jerusalem as Israel says missiles launched from Iran

Air raid sirens sounded in Jerusalem and loud blasts were heard Friday, AFP journalists reported, as the Israeli military said it had detected a missile launched from Iran.

The Israeli military says Israelis must remain in protected areas after it detect missiles launched from Iran.

“Exiting the protected area will be permitted only after receiving explicit instructions,” the military said in a statement.

'Iran capable of 'significantly' harming home front'

Israel military says struck more than 200 targets in Iran

The Israeli military said it had so far struck more than 200 targets across Iran since it began a wave of air strikes on the Islamic republic on Friday.

"So far we have struck more than 200 targets and we are continuing to strike," military spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin told journalists.

Delta, United suspend flights to Tel Aviv

Delta Airlines has suspended flights to Tel Aviv from New York's JFK Airport through August 31 due to regional security risks. The airline is offering rebooking options for affected travelers between June 12 and August 31.

United Airlines also canceled Tel Aviv-bound flights from Newark and did not specify when services would resume. One flight turned back mid-air, and the airline arranged for 26 crew members in Tel Aviv to return on an El Al flight.

Iranian leader warns of strong action against Israel

A "massive explosion" was heard Friday in Isfahan, a major city in central Iran, in a province that is home to several nuclear facilities, Mehr news agency said.

"A few minutes ago, a massive explosion was heard in Isfahan," said Mehr, without immediately elaborating.

Army urges Israelis to remain near shelters

Israel's military on Friday ordered Israelis to stay near protected spaces and avoid gatherings nationwide, as it continued to attack targets in Iran.

"The Home Front Command has now instructed residents across the country to remain close to protected spaces... public gatherings must be avoided," the military said in a statement.

Explosions reported at Fordow nuclear site

An Iranian news outlet close to the government reported two explosions near the Fordow underground nuclear site on Friday evening.

Around the same time, Iranian state media Press TV said air defences shot down an Israeli drone near the Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant (FFEP), a fortified nuclear facility located about 20 miles northeast of Qom.

Israel military chief says 'continuing with full force'

Israel's army chief said the military was keeping up "full force" to achieve its goals after launching a wave of strikes on military and nuclear sites in Iran.

"We are continuing with full force, at a high pace, in order to meet the goals we have set for ourselves," Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir said in a statement.

"There will be difficult moments, we need to be prepared for the range of scenarios we have planned for, very high readiness and discipline are required on the home front."

Israel army says projectile launched from Yemen

Air raid sirens sounded in Jerusalem, as the military said it had detected a projectile launched from Yemen.

"The IDF (military) has identified the launch of a missile from Yemen toward Israeli territory," the military said in a statement, with AFP journalists reporting booms over Jerusalem, similar to those heard during past interceptions.

Israel shuts its biggest gas field, halting supply to Egypt

Israel shut production at its largest natural gas field, Leviathan, after launching airstrikes on Iran, disrupting exports to Egypt. The shutdown, ordered for security reasons, also led to Energean suspending operations. In response, Egypt cut gas supplies to some industries and increased diesel use in power plants to avoid blackouts, amid rising fears of broader regional conflict.

Israeli strikes in Iran have killed at least 78 people and injured 329 others, according to Iranian media.

Fars News Agency said the exact death toll will be officially confirmed and announced later by authorities.

Iran reported that the Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Mohammad Baqeri, Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Hossein Salami, and other senior military and civilian figures were killed in the Israeli strikes on Tehran on Friday.

The military said in a statement that it "began to deploy reservists from different units to all combat arenas throughout the country", calling it part of "preparations for defence and offence across all arenas".

US shifts military resources in Middle East: Report

The United States is shifting military resources, including ships, in the Middle East in response to Israel’s strikes on Iran and a possible retaliatory attack by Tehran, two US officials said.

The Navy has directed the destroyer USS Thomas Hudner to begin sailing toward the Eastern Mediterranean and has directed a second destroyer to begin moving forward, so it can be available if requested by the White House.

Trump is meeting with his National Security Council principals to discuss the situation. The two US officials spoke on the condition of anonymity to provide details not yet made public.

The forces in the region have been taking precautionary measures for days, including having military dependents voluntarily depart regional bases, in anticipation of the strikes and to protect those personnel in case of a large-scale response from Tehran.

IAEA to convene extraordinary board meeting

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will next week convene an extraordinary meeting of its board of governors at the request of Iran following Israeli strikes on the country, diplomats told AFP on Friday.

The meeting will begin at 10 am (0800 GMT) on Monday at the IAEA's Vienna headquarters, two diplomats said.

Arab Parliament condemns Israeli attack on Iran

The Arab Parliament strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Iran, describing it as a grave threat, a serious escalation, and a blatant violation of international law.

In a statement, the Parliament called for urgent and immediate action by the international community, the United Nations, and the UN Security Council.

It warned that continued international silence in the face of Israel's repeated violations risks allowing the law of the jungle to prevail over the principles of international law.

Iraq accuses Israel of using its airspace to attack Iran

Iraq filed a complaint with the United Nations Security Council over Israel's "violation of Iraqi airspace" in a major attack on Iran, Baghdad's foreign ministry said.

"These practices constitute a flagrant violation of Iraq's sovereignty," the ministry said, calling on "the Security Council to assume its responsibilities" and act to "prevent the recurrence of such violations".

Etihad flights face delays, cancellations

UAE’s flag carrier Etihad Airways is experiencing significant disruptions to its flight schedule, with several services across the Middle East either cancelled or delayed. The airline cited airspace closures and the ongoing regional situation as the primary reasons for the affected flights.

On Friday, June 13, flights were cancelled between Abu Dhabi (AUH) and Tel Aviv (TLV), specifically EY595/EY596, EY593/EY594, and EY597/EY598. Additionally, flight EY590 from Amman (AMM) to Abu Dhabi (AUH) faced an extended delay.

Macron says Israel has 'right to defend itself'

French President Emmanuel Macron said Israel had the right to protect itself and called for "maximum restraint" from all parties following Israel's wave of strikes on Iran.

"France reaffirms Israel's right to defend itself and ensure its security," Macron said in English on X.

"To avoid jeopardising the stability of the entire region, I call on all parties to exercise maximum restraint and to de-escalate."

"All necessary steps will be taken to protect our nationals and our diplomatic and military missions in the region," Macron said.

Israeli embassies in US, UK among several closing worldwide

Israeli embassies in the United States and the United Kingdom were among several to close around the globe on Friday following deadly Israeli strikes in Iran.

"In light of recent developments, Israeli missions around the world will be closed and consular services will not be provided," read a message posted by the country's embassies in the United States, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Nigeria, Russia, Ukraine and France.

Israel says intercepted 'most' drones launched from Iran

Israel's military spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin said on Friday that Israel intercepted "most" drones launched from Iran in response to air strikes on military and nuclear sites.

"Earlier, we alerted about a large-scale drone launch targeting our territory. Most of the targets were intercepted", Defrin said during a press briefing after the army said Iran had launched about 100 drones towards Israel.

"The Israeli Air Force continues to operate to intercept unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran toward the State of Israel," the military said in a statement shortly before Defrin's briefing.

Iran confirms Israel killed Guards aerospace commander

Iran's Revolutionary Guards confirmed that its aerospace commander had been killed with fellow officers in an Israeli air strike on their command centre on Friday.

"Commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps aerospace force Major General Amirali Hajizadeh... along with a group of brave and dedicated fighters of this force, were martyred" in an Israeli attack on their command centre, the Guards said in a statement.

Iran says imposed internet restrictions

Iran's communications ministry said Friday that internet restrictions have been introduced nationwide following Israel's wave of strikes.

"Temporary restrictions have been imposed on the country's internet," the ministry said in a statement carried by ISNA news agency, adding that the curbs "will be lifted once the normalcy returns."

Damage at uranium enrichment plant 'surface level'

Iran's Atomic Energy Organisation said that most of the damage from Israeli air strikes targeting its underground uranium enrichment facility at Natanz was at ground level.

"Most of the damage is on the surface level," said the organisation's spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi, adding that there had been "no casualties" at the facility where the enrichment centrifuges are housed underground.

Most of Iran Guards' air force leadership 'neutralised'

Israel's defence ministry said that Israeli air strikes across Iran had "neutralised" most of the senior leadership of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards' Air Force.

"The defence minister was informed that most of the Revolutionary Guard Air Force leadership was neutralised while convening at their underground headquarters," the ministry said in a statement.

The Revolutionary Guards are involved in overseeing Iran's airspace and controlling the country's ballistic missile arsenal.

Iran 'must make a deal,' says Trump

US President Donald Trump urged Iran to "make a deal", warning that there will be more "death and destruction" after Israel launched deadly strikes targeting Iranian nuclear facilities.

"There has already been great death and destruction, but there is still time to make this slaughter, with the next already planned attacks being even more brutal, come to an end," Trump said on his Truth Social platform.

"Iran must make a deal, before there is nothing left... JUST DO IT, BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE," he said.

Israel still intercepting drones

Israel's military said the air force was still intercepting drones launched from Iran in response to air strikes on military and nuclear sites.

"The Israeli Air Force continues to operate to intercept unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran toward the State of Israel", the military said, after earlier stating Iran had launched around 100 drones towards Israel.

Iran says at least 95 wounded

Israel's attack on multiple areas of Iran, including the capital Tehran, wounded at least 95 people, an emergency services official told state TV.

"So far, 95 people were injured and taken to medical centres in 12 different provinces that were targeted," national emergency services spokesperson Mojtaba Khaledi told state TV.

Fresh blasts heard in northwest Iran

A fresh round of explosions was heard in northwestern Iran, state television reported, after Israel carried out a wave of strikes on multiple cities.

"A few minutes ago, new explosions were heard in East Azerbaijan," the broadcaster said, as the Tasnim news agency said an earlier wave of strikes had hit 10 sites in the province, killing at least three people.

Israel says hit underground enrichment centrifuges at Iran's Natanz

The Israeli military said it hit the underground uranium enrichment centrifuges at Iran's vast Natanz facility as part of the wave of strikes it carried out on Friday.

"The underground area of the site was damaged. This area contains a multi-storey enrichment hall with centrifuges, electrical rooms and additional supporting infrastructure," the military said in a statement.

"In addition, critical infrastructure enabling the site's continuous operation and the Iranian regime's ongoing efforts to obtain nuclear weapons were targeted," it added.

Iran names new top brass after Israel killings

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei swiftly appointed new Revolutionary Guards and armed forces chiefs to replace those killed in targeted Israeli strikes on Friday.

In separate decrees, Khamenei named Mohammad Pakpour to replace Hossein Salami as commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and Abdolrahim Mousavi to replace Mohammad Bagheri as chief of the armed forces general staff.

Air Arabia cancels, delays some regional flights

"Due to the current situation and airspace closures, Air Arabia has temporarily cancelled flights to and from Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Russia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Some other flights may face delays or rerouting." the airline posted on social media.

The airline advised passengers to check flight status before.

Israel army says destroyed radars, missile launchers

Israel's military said it destroyed dozens of radars and surface-to-air missile launchers in western Iran in a wave of air strikes.

"In recent hours, Air Force fighter jets, guided by precise intelligence from the Intelligence Directorate, completed an extensive strike against the Iranian regime's air defense system in western Iran," a military statement said.

"As part of the strikes, dozens of radars and surface-to-air missile launchers were destroyed."

Gulf airlines cancel flights

Airlines in the Gulf have cancelled flights to many Middle East destinations as some governments closed their airspace following Israeli strikes on Iran.

Qatar Airways, the country's national carrier and one of the Middle East's largest, said it had "temporarily cancelled flights to Iran and Iraq due to (the) current situation in the region".

Earlier Friday, Jordan and Iraq, which both lie between Israel and Iran, announced they had closed their airspace and grounded all flights after Israel's strikes.

Jordan's military said it intercepted drones and missiles that had violated the kingdom's airspace, after Iran vowed there would be "no limits" in its response to Israeli attacks.

Foes seeking its destruction 'will be eliminated'

Defence Minister Israel Katz warned that Israel would "eliminate" its foes after it carried out air strikes on Iran targeting military and nuclear sites.

"The precise targeting of senior commanders of the Revolutionary Guards, the Iranian military, and nuclear scientists - all of whom were involved in advancing the plan to destroy Israel - sends a strong and clear message: those who work toward Israel's destruction will be eliminated," Katz said in a statement.

He further warned that Iran "will pay an increasingly heavy price the longer it continues its aggressive actions" against Israel.

Emirates airline cancels Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Iran flights

Emirates airline said flights to and from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Iran had been cancelled, after Israel launched strikes on Iran on Friday, sparking concerns of a wider escalation.

Several flights scheduled for Friday and one Tehran flight on Saturday were listed as cancelled on the airline's website, with the Dubai international airport also reporting that "some flights at @DXB and DWC - Al Maktoum International have been cancelled or delayed due to airspace closures over Iran, Iraq, and Syria" in a statement on X.

'No nuclear contamination' on enrichment site

Israel's attack on a key nuclear facility in central Iran did not result in any nuclear contamination, state media reported.

"The attack on Natanz has not resulted in any nuclear contamination so far," the official IRNA news agency quoted the deputy police chief of Isfahan province as saying, adding that there have been no reported deaths from the attack as of yet.

UAE condemns Israel's military strike on Iran

The United Arab Emirates has condemned in the strongest terms Israel’s military targeting of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and expressed its deep concern over the ongoing escalation and its repercussions on regional security and stability.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) stressed the importance of exercising the utmost self-restraint and judgment to mitigate risks and prevent the expansion of the conflict.

Flight disruptions

The United Arab Emirates capital's international airport warned of flight disruptions on Friday after Israel launched a wave of attacks on Iran it said targeted nuclear and military sites.

"Flight disruptions are expected through today at Zayed International Airport. Passengers are advised to check with their airline for the latest status of their flights before travelling to the airport," the Abu Dhabi airport said in a statement on X.

Nuclear scientists killed

At least six nuclear scientists were killed Friday in Israel's attacks on Iran, local media reported.

"Abdolhamid Minouchehr, Ahmadreza Zolfaghari, Amirhossein Feqhi, Motalleblizadeh, Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, and Fereydoun Abbasi were the nuclear scientists martyred" in Israel's attack, Tasnim news agency said.

Israel jets 'still attacking' nuclear facilities across Iran: military

The Israeli military said its fighter jets were still conducting strikes against Iranian military and nuclear facilities after Israel launched a wave of attacks across Iran before dawn on Friday.

"Our pilots attacked and are still attacking military targets and targets related to the nuclear programme in various areas in Iran," military spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin told journalists.

Approaching 'point of no return'

The Israeli military said that the intelligence it had gathered showed that Iran was approaching the "point of no return" on its nuclear programme.

"In recent months, accumulated intelligence information has provided evidence that the Iranian regime is approaching the point of no return," it said in a statement.

"The convergence of the Iranian regime's efforts to produce thousands of kilogrammes of enriched uranium, alongside decentralised and fortified enrichment compounds in underground facilities, enables the Iranian regime to enrich uranium to military-grade levels, enabling the regime to obtain a nuclear weapon within a short period of time," it added.

Iran launches about 100 drones towards Israel

Israel's military said Iran launched about 100 drones toward Israel on Friday and that it was making an effort to shoot them down, following a wave of Israeli air strikes across the Islamic republic.

"Iran launched approximately 100 UAVs towards Israeli territory, which we are working to intercept,” military spokesman Brigadier General Effie Defrin told journalists. He added that Israel's strikes on Iran involved 200 fighter jets striking about 100 targets across Iran.

Air India diverts multiple flights

Air India on Friday announced that several of its international flights were either diverted or sent back to their origin due to the emerging situation in Iran and the closure of its airspace.

In a post on social media platform X, the airline stated, "Due to the emerging situation in Iran, the subsequent closure of its airspace and in view of the safety of our passengers, the following Air India flights are either being diverted or returning to their origin"

US had advance notice

US President Donald Trump told Fox News he was aware Israel was going to conduct strikes on Iran before they happened and stressed that Tehran "cannot have a nuclear bomb," according to the US broadcaster. 

"Iran cannot have a nuclear bomb and we are hoping to get back to the negotiating table. We will see," Trump said, according to Fox News. 

Saudi Arabia condemns attack

Riyadh, long a Tehran rival before reconciling in 2023, strongly condemned a wave of strikes that Israel launched against military and nuclear sites in Iran on Friday.

"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expresses its strong condemnation and denunciation of the blatant Israeli aggressions against the brotherly Islamic Republic of Iran, which undermine its sovereignty and security and constitute a clear violation of international laws and norms," the foreign ministry said in a statement.

Describing the strikes as "heinous attacks", it added that "the international community and the (UN) Security Council bear a great responsibility to immediately halt this aggression", which Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said would last days.

Women and children among 50 wounded

Israeli attacks against Iran on Friday wounded at least 50 people, including women and children, state television in the Islamic republic reported.

"Following the Israeli attack, about 50 injured people were transferred to Chamran Hospital (in Tehran), at least 35 of whom are women and children," the broadcaster said, without announcing any deaths. 

Iran says 'no damage' to oil refineries, depots

Iran's oil ministry said key refineries and fuel depots were unaffected by Israel's deadly attack on Friday, with operations continuing nationwide without disruption.

"No damage was caused to the country's refining facilities and oil depots, and currently the activities of these facilities and fuel supply are ongoing in all parts of the country without interruption," the ministry said in a statement.

Iran confirms Hossein Salami's death

Iranian state television confirmed the head of the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard was killed in Israel's strikes Friday morning.

Gen. Hossein Salami was the chief of one of the country's most powerful centers, and his death was a tough blow to Iran's embattled leadership, which has had a series of setbacks in the past 20 months of Middle Eastern war and unrest.

US-Iran nuclear talks

The United States still hopes to hold talks Sunday with Iran, even after Israel launched a massive attack on the Islamic republic, a US official said.

"We still intend to have talks Sunday," the official told AFP on condition of anonymity.

The official had no further information on whether Iran had agreed to the talks. Oman had earlier planned talks Sunday involving Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump's friend and globe-trotting negotiator.

Israel's Netanyahu says strikes on Iran 'very successful'

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Friday that a wave of Israeli strikes on Iran had been "very successful," warning they were only the opening salvos in a broader campaign against the Islamic republic.

"We carried out a very successful opening strike, and with God's help, we will achieve much more," Netanyahu said in a video statement. He had earlier stated that the strikes on Iran would continue for "many days".

'Dangerous escalation'

Nuclear talks mediator Oman condemned Israel for launching strikes against Iran on Friday, calling them a "dangerous escalation".

Oman considers "this act as a dangerous escalation" and "calls on the international community to adopt a clear and firm position to put an end to this dangerous approach, which threatens to rule out diplomatic solutions and jeopardise the security and stability of the region", state media said.

Oil surges, stocks fall

Oil prices soared more than 12 percent and stocks sank Friday after Israel launched "preemptive" strikes on Iranian nuclear and military sites and warned of more to come, stoking fears of a full-blown war.

Investors ran for the hills on news of the attacks and a warning from Tehran that its regional foe faced a "bitter and painful" fate, while US President Donald Trump said a "massive conflict" in the region was possible. 

'Bitter and painful fate'

Iranian supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned that Israel would suffer severe consequences after launching deadly attacks on the country on Friday, including Tehran and nuclear sites.

"With this crime, the Zionist regime has set itself for a bitter and painful fate and it will definitely receive it," Khamenei said in a statement.
