Cairo: A Saudi boy was killed and his brother injured in a wall collapse while searching for an Internet connection for remote-learning in south-western Saudi Arabia, a media report said Wednesday.
The incident occurred in the village of Al Ayna in the governorate of Rijal Alma in the region of Assir where the two brothers Ahmed and Jamil Al Assiri were sitting next to a rickety wall, Saudi online newspaper Sabq said.
“The incident took place a few days ago when the wall collapsed over the two children while following up the educational platform near it because of the weak Internet connection inside the house,” their father said.
Ahmed, a second grader, was killed in the collapse while his brother Jamil is still in hospital, according to the father who did not specify their ages.
The new school year started in Saudi Arabia in late August, relying on distant-learning as a precaution to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus.
