Abu Dhabi: Saudi Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was repeatedly run over by a car in a Riyadh neighbourhood, police said.
The seriously injured victim was found by ambulance crews, but died at the scene a short time later.
“A video of the crime posted on social media showed the victim being beaten and run over repeatedly. The footage led to the offender, a Saudi man in his 40s, who was arrested,” Major Khaled Al Kreidis, spokesperson of the Riyadh Police, said.
Investigation indicated that the perpetrator chased the victim as a result of a dispute, and that during the crime he was under the influence of drugs. An intoxicating substance was also seized in his vehicle, police said.
The suspect was remanded in custody pending moving to the Public Prosecution pending further questioning and trial, police said.
