Governor of Riyadh is dead

Dubai: Prince Sattam Bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Riyadh region, died on Tuesday, the royal court said, according to the Saudi Press Agency. He was 71.

The SPA, quoting the royal court. said funeral prayers will be performed Wednesday after Asr prayer at Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh.

Prince Sattam, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz’s half brother was appointed governor in November 2011 after now Crown Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, who held the position at that time, was named defence minister following the death of then Crown Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz.
