Abu Dhabi: Saudi Arabia said on Tuesday it has recorded 1,567 COVID-19 infections during the past 24 hours, the highest daily in 11 months, bringing the tally to 486,106 cases, local media reported.

Saudi Arabia’s Health Ministry statistics showed 1,032 coronavirus cases recovered, bringing the total recoveries to 466, 578, while the number of active cases reached 11,724, including 1,406 critical.

The kingdom also recorded 15 deaths, bringing the casualties tally to 7,804.

The Health Ministry warned against complacency in applying precautionary measures, and stressed the importance of adhering to preventive measures such as wearing masks, social distancing, sterilising hands and not shaking hands to limit the spread of the coronavirus in order to preserve the health and safety of everyone.

For its part, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs carried out 23,366 inspection visits across the kingdom’s mosques over the past week to follow up on the implementation of the precautionary measures adopted to stem the spread of the highly contagious plague, and to achieve the highest safety standards in mosques.

The ministry reopened 18 mosques in four areas after they were temporarily evacuated and sterilised, after 18 coronavirus infections were confirmed among the worshipers, bringing the total number of mosque that was sterilised within the past 143 days to 1,711.
