Dubai: Saudi Arabia’s national carrier Saudia has announced the death of Cabin Manager Mohsen Saeed Al Zahrani, who passed away mid-flight on duty aboard Saudia Flight SV119 from Jeddah to London on Thursday, June 26.

Al Zahrani reportedly suffered a sudden medical emergency while the aircraft was in the air. Despite immediate medical attention from the flight crew and onboard personnel, he was pronounced dead after the flight made an emergency landing at Cairo International Airport.

Saudia described Al Zahrani’s passing as a tragic loss of one of the airline’s most devoted team members. "Our heartfelt condolences go out to Al Zahrani’s family, colleagues, and friends," the airline said, adding that he had been “a model of commitment, integrity, and professionalism.” Colleagues recalled him as widely admired for his work ethic and high moral standards and praised his years of service to the national carrier.

Saudia, in coordination with the Saudi Embassy in Egypt, is currently completing procedures for the repatriation of Al Zahrani’s body to the Kingdom.

The airline also expressed its gratitude to the crew of Flight SV119 for their calm and professional handling of the situation, and extended appreciation to the passengers for their patience and cooperation during what it called “extraordinary circumstances.”

"Saudia remains fully committed to supporting his loved ones and all those affected by this profound loss," the airline added.
