Dubai: Qatar has reported 929 new coronavirus cases, raising the total number of infections in the country to 10,287, the Ministry of Public Health announced on Sunday.

It is the highest single-day increase reported in the country so far.

A total of 83 confirmed COVID-19 patients have made full recovery after receiving necessary treatment, taking that number to 1,012 of total recovered patients. The number of total deaths stands at 10.

Most of the new patients were infected with after getting in contact with previously discovered cases.

The remainder of new cases have come from citizens and residents who have contracted the virus from members of their families, who in turn had contracted it from the workplace or other places where they were exposed to infected people.

All the new infected cases have been placed under quarantine, where they are receiving medical care.

The ministry stated that the noticeable increase in the number of confirmed new cases of coronavirus is due to several reasons, including that the spread of the virus has begun to enter the peak stage, and numbers are expected to continue to increase before they start to gradually decline.
