Muscat: Oman’s Cultural Attaché office in London has issued a warning to Omani students who are pursuing their studies in the UK on scholarships about frequent absenteeism from university lectures.

The attaché stated that this is contrary to the regulations of educational institutions, as well as immigration and residency laws in the United Kingdom.

The warning stated that it is considered a violation of the Scholarships, and Study Aids Act. Any student receiving three warnings because of their absence from classes, according to the residency law in the United Kingdom, will face termination of the scholarship.

Academic supervisor

The attaché has advised the students to inform their academic supervisor if there is a shortfall of attendance, and to ensure necessary assistance to restore their scholarship. Academic commitment and abiding by the stipulations to sustain the scholarship are mandatory to maintain, the advice stated.

The Cultural Attache also advised all those students who are attending the university courses in the UK, through remote access to exert caution while submitting their assignments as any error once submitted cannot be corrected and that it would reflect on scores.

There are many Omani students who are studying at various universities in the United Kingdom on scholarship from Omani government. Vast majority of the Omani students, enrolled with various UK universities are presently in the UK attending the combined curricula of online and offline education.
