Investigations found man used social media platform to publicly encourage deviant behavior
Dubai: A Kuwaiti criminal court has sentenced a citizen to three years in prison with hard labor and imposed a fine of 5,000 Kuwaiti dinars for what authorities described as violating public morals and inciting debauchery through videos posted on his Snapchat account.
The conviction followed confidential investigations by the Interior Ministry’s Cybercrime Department, which found that the man had committed “immoral acts” and used his social media platform to publicly encourage deviant behavior.
Prosecutors presented documented recordings and electronic correspondence as evidence, which the court accepted as proof of his intent and actions.
In its report, the Cybercrime Department characterized the posts as a “blatant violation of societal values” and a “serious breach of the law,” emphasizing the need for the maximum penalty to deter similar offenses and safeguard the country’s moral fabric.
The defendant, whose name has not been released, has the right to appeal the verdict.
