Manama: A high school for girls in the central town of Jid Hafs in Bahrain became the 67th learning institution to come under attack since the start of the academic year in September.

"A fire was started near a store in the school, but it was brought under control before it could spread," the education ministry said.

The ministry did not accuse anyone, but said that those started the fire were "unknown." Attacks have targetted elementary, middle and high schools as well as schools for boys and girls. The academic year started in September and will end in June.
