Dubai: Bahrain’s Ministry of Health announced detecting 600 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday, pushing the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 17,269.

Among today’s cases, 347 were detected among expatriate workers, while 249 were found to have been exposed to active cases. Additionally, four cases are travel-related.

The new infections were detected after the ministry conducted over 8,916 new COVID-19 tests on Thursday, bringing the total number of tests done so far to 403,036.

This takes the overall number of active cases to 5,330, of which 137 cases are receiving treatment and 10 are in critical condition.

The ministry has also announced the death of a 48-year-old Bahraini female and a 60-year-old male expatriate. Both were registered active cases of coronavirus and suffered from underlying and chronic health problems.

The patients, along with all other active cases, had been placed in isolation and received extensive 24-hour treatment from a specialised medical team.

Meanwhile, there were 414 new recoveries, increasing total recoveries to 11,903.
