Dubai: A Bahraini ex-convict attacked his former wife with acid after she refused to surrender to him when he tried to rape her, local media reported.
The incident took place at the culprit's house in the Capital Governorate a few weeks ago.
According to the 38-year-old victim, who is a mother of two, the perpetrator, 42, was recently released from prison after serving a 10-year sentence for his involvement in drug-related cases.
The Bahraini mother said her ex-husband lured her to his apartment within his father’s house in Sitra, after convincing her that he needed help with cooking and ask her to teach him how to use the oven.
The victim claimed that the man suddenly locked the door of the kitchen and attempted to rape her, while threatening to attack her if she refused.
“When I started screaming, he tried to strangle me to silence my voice. He then attacked me with acid, which burned separate parts of my body, mutilated my face, neck and back parts of my body. He also wounded me with a sharp object. This is all because I refused to surrender to his wishes,” she said.
