Spain suspends campaigning after politician shot dead

Madrid: Spain's main parties suspended campaigning two days before national elections after a former local lawmaker from the ruling Socialists was shot dead.

Isaias Carrasco was attacked today in Arrasate in the northern Basque region, the Interior Ministry said.

The government blamed the attack on the Basque terror group ETA.
