London: A general practitioner groped his nurses and receptionists, drank alcohol at work, installed a webcam in his surgery and watched porn on office computers, it was claimed Wednesday.

Dr Ralph Vadas, 56, was already under supervision because of previous problems with alcohol, but convinced the doctors keeping an eye on him that he was teetotal.

In reality, the married doctor touched-up nurses and receptionists, was ‘unsteady on his feet', carried cans of strong lager into the surgery and stashed ‘near- empty' boxes of wine in the kitchen.

One shocked IT consultant found more than 20 internet windows open with ‘indecent or pornographic images' when he set about installing new software on Vadas's computer in the summer of 2006.

He was so worried someone would think he was responsible that he immediately pulled the plug out.

Vadas, a Hungarian, faces being struck off at a General Medical Council fitness to practise hearing into allegations he was drunk while treating patients and sexually harassed members of staff.

He faces 60 charges relating to his sexual conduct and alleged ‘inadequate' treatment of eight patients over 12 years.
