Dubai: A viral traffic stunt has landed one Manila motorcyclist in trouble with transport authorities.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) confirmed it has preventively suspended the rider’s license for 90 days after footage spread online showing him standing and dancing on top of a motorcycle stuck in traffic. The clip, apparently shot along a busy public road in Binondo, drew thousands of reactions within hours.

Authorities didn't name the rider, but they did use a screengrab from social media user RBabianoTV.

LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said a show cause order has already been issued to both the rider and the registered owner of the motorcycle. The order directs them to explain why the licence should not be permanently revoked.

The move, Mendoza noted, is part of the broader directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to clamp down on reckless motorists. “We cannot allow this kind of behavior in full view of other drivers and pedestrians,” an LTO official familiar with the case told reporters.

The order was signed by LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division chief Renante Melitante, who also set a hearing on August 20. The rider is required to surrender his licence on or before the scheduled date.

Failure to attend or respond, the LTO warned, will be treated as a waiver of his right to defend himself.

“Failure to appear and submit the written comment/explanation as required shall be construed by this Office as a waiver of your rights to be heard, and the case shall be decided based on the evidence at hand,” the SCO read.

For the motovlogger, a brief moment of viral fame may now come at the permanent cost of his driver's licence.
