Most lottery winners are lone ticket holders, they're given one year to claim their prize
Manila: The Philippine jackpot fever is just kicking off with more than Php516 million ($8.33 million) in lottery prizes won in the last 35 days, since January 1, 2025.
Most of the winners of lottery prize money are lone ticket holders, according to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), the government agency tasked to oversee the draws.
On Tuesday (February 4), a ticket buyer in Pasig (a component city of Metro Manila) bagged the Php32-million Philippine lottery jackpot, while 82 other players won Php32,000 ($548).
On January 19 (Saturday), a lone ticket holder from Camarines Sur hit the Php10.3 million jackpot in the Lotto 6/42 draw, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) announced Sunday.
The winning ticket, purchased in Baao town of Camarines Sur Province bore the combination 09-13-40- 42-14-33.
On January 9, 2025 (Thursday), another lone bettor from the Visayas bagged Wednesday night's Php29.7-million Grand Lotto 6/55 jackpot.
In an advisory, the PCSO said the winning ticket bearing the lucky numbers 13-21-24-31-09-03 was bought in Negros Occidental.
Bumper prize money
On January 6, a lone ticket holder in Mandaluyong bagged the Ultra Lotto Php314-million jackpot, ushering in 2025 as a multimillionaire.
The winner bagged the Php314-million Ultra Lotto 6/58 jackpot on the draw.
In a statement, PCSO said the winner placed his bet at SM Megamall, in Pasig.
PCSO does not immediately publish the names of winners.
Winner in the Visayas
Meanwhile, a ticket bought in Iloilo won the Php18-million Super Lotto pot on January 3, 2025.
The lucky ticket holder in the central Philippine province hit the jackpot for the third consecutive day, bagging the Super Lotto 6/49 prize pot.
On January 2, a ticket holder from Metro Manila who purchased the winning ticket in Barangay (village) Santol hit the Php57 million jackpot of the MegaLotto 6/45 draw on New Year's Day.
New Year’s Day winners
On New Year’s Day January 1, 2025, two ticket holders from Quezon province and Camarines Sur welcomed a bountiful New Year as they won the Php25.3-million jackpot the Lotto 6/42 draw.
The PCSO said the winners from Lucena City, Quezon and Naga City, Camarines Sur correctly guessed the winning combination of 27-26-09-41-19-20.
The winners have one year to claim their prize money at the PCSO main office in Mandaluyong City upon presentation of the winning ticket and two identification cards.
Under the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion law, lotto winnings worth more than Php10,000 are subject to a 20 percent tax.
