Dubai: Malacañang has issued a series of proclamations declaring special non-working days in several cities and provinces across the Philippines.
The special holidays will allow residents to participate in significant local events, including founding anniversaries and cultural festivals.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin signed the proclamations on August 8, 2025, on behalf of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. The proclamations states 'it is fitting and proper that the people be given full opportunity to participate in the occasion and enjoy the celebration.'
August 29 (Friday): The Municipality of Dangcagan, Bukidnon, for its Founding Anniversary (Proclamation No. 988).
August 30 (Saturday): The City of Mandaue, Cebu, for its 56th Charter Anniversary (Proclamation No. 989).
September 5 (Friday): General Santos City, South Cotabato, for the 27th Tuna Festival (Proclamation No. 990).
September 8 (Monday): The Municipality of Loon, Bohol, for the SidlaKasilak Festival (Proclamation No. 991).
September 8 (Monday): The City of Digos, Davao del Sur, for its 25th Founding Anniversary (Proclamation No. 992).
September 9 (Tuesday): The City of Bais, Negros Oriental, for its 57th Charter Anniversary (Proclamation No. 993).
September 13 (Saturday): The Municipality of Claver, Surigao del Norte, for its Founding Anniversary (Proclamation No. 994).
September 18 (Thursday): The Municipality of Bansalan, Davao del Sur, for its 73rd Founding Anniversary (Proclamation No. 995).
Under a special non-working holiday, a 'no work, no pay' policy typically applies unless a different company policy is in effect. Employees who do work on these days are entitled to an additional 30 percent of their daily wage.
