It’s happening. The reigning Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters will be visiting the Philippines this week, and beauty-pageant fans have exploded in excitement on social media.
Department of Tourism officials confirmed on Monday that the newly crowned Miss Universe 2017 will set foot in the country on Wednesday December 6, along with candidates from Russia, United States, Italy, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Singapore and Canada, among others.

The much-anticipated visit is expected to boost the Philippine’s tourism industry. Details of the visit were announced to the media on Monday morning and fans of the beauty pageant took to social media to express their excitement.
“I would love to see her,” said one Facebook user. “Wooww! Just Wooowww!!,” exclaimed another.
The Miss Universe party will take a trip around the country and get a taste of the tropics as they visit Manila and other provinces, including Batanes and Camiguin, according to a report posted by GMA News.
The tour is said to be a part of the Philippines’ “bring home a friend project.”
Filipinos have an obsession with beauty pageants and the search for Miss Universe is one of the global competitions anticipated by many every year.
